Deputation – Week 116

Sunday, June 1st Brandon visited one of our supporting churches, Grace Baptist Church in Brockport, and updated them on our Deputation progress. He was able to announce the news of our child to the congregation that morning and had a great time with the announcement. The folks at Grace are doing well, and it was good to see them all again.

He spent the weeks before and after that meeting at home by himself while Emily, Emily’s Mom & Dad, and her brother took a trip to Florida. They arrived home last Saturday evening.

Upon my (it’s Emily!) arrival home from Florida with my parents and brother, we discovered a colorful “welcome home” banner and a freshly grilled dinner waiting for us on the counter. Being gone for a week and a half made me realize something very good (though it didn’t take very long to figure it out!): I don’t like being away from Brandon. We just passed our sixth wedding anniversary and we are looking forward to many more years together if the Lord permits.

The following day we had a short drive out to Rapids Bible Church in Rapids, NY to present the ministry. The drive out was absolutely beautiful! – When we left on our trip six weeks ago, spring had hardly begun and now that we are back we found ourselves basking in a cool summer morning, taking in all the smells (somebody was grilling at 9:00 in the morning!) and beautiful greenery and brightly colored flowers. God’s creation is spectacular!

We first met Pastor Bentley and his wife soon after we moved up to New York for deputation and have seen them many times at local pastor’s fellowships. Their excitement about what God is doing there in Rapids was contagious! It seemed as though half of the people there on Sunday were under the age of 15; the young families and children gave an energy to the church. It will be exciting to see what God continues to do in and through that church family in the coming years. Please join us in prayer for this church body and their outreach into the little town of Rapids.
