Deputation – Weeks 121-122

Over the past couple of weeks a number of very exciting things have been happening. We’ll begin with events from a week and a half ago, Sunday the 17th.

That Sunday found us travelling down to visit a couple of supporting churches in the Southern Tier of NY, including the church Brandon grew up in. It was a good Sunday of fellowship, renewing acquaintances with a number of folks down there. We spent those nights with close friends of the family. There was much pizza and ice cream enjoyed by all! 🙂 Sunday afternoon, on our drive home from the morning services, our van rolled over 200,000 miles! We are so thankful to the Lord for His provision during our time on Deputation. He has provided us with a vehicle we have been able to rely on for 5 1/2 years!

First thing Monday morning we headed down to North Carolina. Emily had an OB appointment on Tuesday, which went well. Chloe’s heartbeat sounded great, and she’s growing just as she should be. While we were down in NC we were able to spend some time with our sending church, Maranatha Baptist Church. Though the time was brief it was encouraging to see several new faces of those who have joined the church in the past few months. Thursday evening Emily arranged to have a surprise birthday party at the home of one of our pastors. Brandon had no idea it was coming, and it was quite a surprise!

First thing Friday morning we headed back to NY. Victory Baptist was having a men’s outreach on Friday night we wanted to be back for. We did get back in time, and the outreach went pretty well.

Sunday Brandon preached at Victory again, continuing the sermon series in Philippians. This coming Sunday will be the final Sunday of our summer ministry in Albion. We are so thankful for the progress Dad has made since his stroke, and he will begin to resume his pulpit ministry this Autumn. Thank you all for your faithful prayers on his behalf. We are confident God is indeed working through the prayers of His people for Dad’s progress of health.

Last night we visited a supporting church a couple of towns over, in Hamlin. We were able to provide them with an update of our ministry travels, and they were prepared with a surprise for us. They threw us our very first baby shower! We now have lots of cute little girl clothes for Chloe. We were very encouraged by the generosity of God’s people there in Hamlin.

We are excited to let you all know that we’ve had several churches take us on over the past couple of weeks, including Regular Baptist Church of Smethport, PA and First Baptist Church of Newark Valley, NY. We are now around 94% of our needed financial support! We are so excited that God is continuing to bring us closer to our goal. Please continue to pray with us that God will bring in our final six-ish percent support before Chloe is born. We are thrilled at the prospect of heading down to Brazil shortly after her arrival.

In just a few weeks we will be having our commissioning service at our sending church in Winston-Salem, NC. While we know the distance may be prohibitive for many of you to make it out, we would love to have you come. If you can make the trip down, please let us know so that we can work on housing arrangements for you. This will be a great time to celebrate God’s faithfulness in bringing us this far. It will also commit our service in Brazil to Him as His servants and the representatives of Maranatha Baptist Church and those churches which have partnered with us along the way. We are so thankful for you all, and again, we know we couldn’t be here without your faithful prayers for us. Thank you.
