Sunday the 14th we had the opportunity to spend the day with a church in the Allentown, PA area we had visited a couple of years ago. This church is ideally located in Whitehall, PA, giving the church plenty of open doors of ministry in the Allentown area. Pastor Bird has a committed heart for that town and church. We were encouraged by our time with him and his church family. After a fellowship meal (more good Baptist cooking!) we took the opportunity to update them on our ministry. Because they already knew a little bit about our ministry we were able to be a little more interactive with the folks, giving them a glimpse of everyday life in São Paulo.
Monday we headed over to State College, PA where Pastor Fenstermacher and Faith Baptist Church were hosting the Fall PARBC Bible Conference. It was a great time of fellowship with a number of Pastors we have gotten to know quite well during our time on Deputation. The Conference theme was on the names of Christ, and the sermons focused on corresponding aspects of His Person and ministry. The conference was quite uplifting and Christ-exalting.
Wednesday night, after the conference was over, we visited a supporting church not far away. Messiah Baptist Church in Kylertown is a church we visited last Summer, and a church which partnered with us financially not long after that. We had a good time updating them on how things have been going and joining them in prayer for their ministries.
Thursday morning we headed out for Winston-Salem, NC. Our commissioning service was Sunday the 21st at our sending church in Winston. We met Emily’s Dad and brother in Grove City, and a supporting Pastor in Wytheville, WV, and made the trip with them.
