Deputation – Week 129

After our meetings in Northeastern PA we headed down for North Carolina. Emily had an OB appointment on Tuesday morning, so we needed to get down pretty quickly. After an uneventful drive we pulled in to Winston on Monday night. We spent a couple nights with Brandon’s Grandparents, did a little bit of visiting, and turned around Wednesday morning to head back to the North. Wednesday night we had a meeting in Philadelphia, PA.

When we left on Wednesday morning we were driving under sunny blue skies. Within an hour we were under a very strong front, with heavy rain. We left Winston-Salem scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia an hour and a half before the evening service was scheduled to begin. We arrived in Philadelphia 10 minutes late. Traffic had been bumper-to-bumper from Roanoke, VA all the way north, with several accidents along the way. It was easily one of the most harrowing trips we have made on Deputation. We were so thankful the Lord got us into Philly safely. There were times when we wondered.

Wednesday night we had the opportunity to share our ministry with Bible Baptist Church in Upper Darby. We had met Pastor Lyon a couple years ago through the PARBC, and saw him frequently at the conferences. We were glad to have the opportunity to present our ministry with his church family. He planted the church in Upper Darby about 20 years ago, and we were greatly encouraged at how many folks he had at the service. It was quite unusual to see that many people on a Wednesday night, and a sign of good things at that church. Pray with us for the Lyons as they continue to reach their area of Philly with the gospel.

Thursday morning we headed up to New Berlin, NY. Our friends the Baltichs were having us in for the weekend for a special Missions Emphasis Weekend. We had a great time fellowshipping with them for a few days before the conference. Friday night the church had a baby shower for Emily. Then Saturday we had dinner with the Missions Committee, followed by an evening service and a dessert time. Sunday after the morning service Dan had a baptismal service and his two sons, Aaron and Marcus, followed the Lord in Believer’s Baptism! What a great way to close out a missions conference!

Monday and Tuesday we continued to hang out with the Baltich family. Tuesday Dan and Brandon got together for lunch with a couple of other local Pastors. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable few days. Wednesday we headed home, and taught youth group at Victory on Wednesday night.
